- First, check that JPEGger is working and that other pictures are being captured. If JPEGger is not working then the Signature Pad will not work.
- Test the proper function of the pad using the DemoOcx diagnostic. If the pen does not write on the pad in this diagonistic, try replacing the pen.
- If the pad is functioning correctly in DemoOcx, then test it in Scrap Dragon. Look for a lighted screen with text. If the screen does not light up, then check the Transact Universal Driver configuration and make sure that xlateapp.exe is running.
- If the text does not appear, then run sigconfig to make sure that the text for the pad has been configured.
- If the text appears, but you are not able to respond to NEXT or ACCEPT, the pad probably needs to be calibrated. See the related article on pad calibration.
- The most common chronic issue with the signature pad occurs because the USB plug comes loose from the back of the pad. The plug can be reinserted and the xlateapp.exe restarted by running Configure Transact Universal Driver. This will usually resolve the issue without rebooting the computer.
- To prevent the USB plug from coming loose, we recommend that the USB cable be twisted and secured by the extra plastic plate on the back of the unit.
