Frequently Asked Questions > Adding Commodities |
Few steps are needed to successfully add a commodity in Scrap Dragon.
1. Navigate to Back Office > Master Files > Commodity > Commodity Master > Commodity Setup.
2. Touch the 'Add' button.
3. There are 4 required fields that are essential in defining a new commodity: Commodity code, Print Description, Scale Price, and Ferrous/Non Ferr. Without these, the commodity will not be successfully entered.
Commodity Code - this is a code that will be assigned to individual commodities. Some yards prefer to group their commodities in a numerical group (i.e. aluminum commodities: 100's; brass commodities: 200's), while others might group their commodities in numerical order starting at 1.
Print Desc - this field will represent what text is displayed on tickets and reports. However the item should be displayed on tickets and reports, is how the print description should appear on the screen in this field.
Scale Price - this will be what the base scale price is for customers. Unless special pricing is set for a customer, this is the price they will receive. After setting the scale price, select a unit of measurement for the commodity. The choices seen here can be defined by you. This can be done in Unit of Measure Maintenance. NOTE: for buttons that will link to other pages, the unit of measurement MUST be set to "XX".
Ferrous Non/Ferr - select whether the commodity is ferrous (F), non ferrous (N), or other (O).
When these fields have been satisfied, touch 'Save' to record your new commodity.
In order to add the new commodity to the Scrap Buying menu, it is necessary to do the following:
1. Navigate to Back Office > Master Files > Commodity > Commodity Buttons > Button Maker.
2. Look at the top right hand of the screen and make sure that you are editing the correct Menu Name. The Menu Page will read NONE by default, as this is your home page. To edit any other page pull down this menu and select the page you wish to edit. If you would like to create additional pages to edit, click here to see how.
3. Touch any empty rectangle to begin adding commodity buttons to your menu.
4. Once a rectangle is clicked the commodity list will be displayed to select the commodity to be added. Touch the commodity you wish to add, then touch 'Select'.
5. If the button that is added is a button that links to a new page, make sure when the button is highlighted to pull down the 'Call Page' options in the lower right hand corner of the screen and select the page that it is intended link to. This will tell Scrap Dragon when this button is selected to call (or link) to the page selected.
6. Touch 'Save'.
