Creating Menus (Button Maker)

For a video on Creating and Editing Menus using Best Practices, select this icon  .

The Button Menu Design screen is where you design the menu pages and buttons for the Buy and Inventory modules.

There are three important things to remember:

This screen is divided up into areas:

  1. The Menu Type drop down where you may choose the type of menu. Is it a menu containing commodities or inventory items?
  2. The Design Area where you can add buttons by dragging and dropping them to empty spaces, move buttons and edit or delete buttons by clicking on them to open the Edit Button Screen, and where you can add and delete rows of buttons.
  3. The Menu Name drop down where you can select a menu or submenu you wish to edit.
  4. The Add, Delete, and Preview Buttons next to the Menu Name drop down.
  5. The Edit Menu Type drop down where you can choose whether the menu is a Home screen or a Submenu page, and the Name field where you can name your menu.
  6. The Button List where you can select the commodities or submenu pages to add to your button menu by dragging and dropping them over to the Design Area.
  7. The Button Type Radio Buttons that allow you to view commodities and submenus to add to your menu.
  8. The Search Filter and Group Filter fields allow you to search for commodities based on name or commodity group.

Note: The menu example displayed below is a good example of a warehouse scale menu that follows best design practices as outlined in the Creating Menus video available from Scrap Dragon University and linked at the top of this page.

You may change the Home screen, submenus, create a new menu and edit the menu name.

To add a new menu:

  1. Touch the Add Menu button.
  2. Give the menu a name.
  3. Decide whether the menu is a Home Screen or Submenu in the Edit Menu Type drop down.
  4. Add/edit buttons and edit the rows/columns, if necessary.
  5. Organize Commodity buttons and Navigation buttons to submenu pages by dragging and dropping them.
  6. Close the Button Maker.
