Edit Button

For a video on Creating and Editing Menus using Best Practices, select this icon  .

To edit a button:

  1. From the Button Maker page, select the menu and you would like to edit, or create a new menu.
  2. Click on the Commodity you wish to edit in the Design Area. You must drag and drop the commodity you wish to edit to the Design Area to edit the button using the Edit Button screen.
  3. Edit the button appearance based on the commodity and behavior.
    • Is the button opening another menu or are you selecting an existing commodity?
    • Make similar commodities the same colors
    • Use black text on light colors and white text on dark colors.
    • Use a combination of upper and lower case letters so that the name is easily readable on the button. Adjust font size so the text is easily readable.
    • Use the Override Yard Caption checkbox if you would like the commodity name displayed on the button to differ from the commodity name in the commodity master file.
    • If the button is going to open another menu, it is recommended that the color displayed on the Navigation button be coordinated with the commodities associated with that Navigation menu. For example, a Plumbing Navigation button should be orange to match the Copper commodity buttons, since Copper commodities are frequently associated with plumbing scrap.

You can also Remove the button or save the changes to the button by using the Remove and OK buttons on the Edit Button screen.
